Pastor Curtis in Kenya 5

I gave the keynote address at the culmination of a week-long SDA camp meeting within the walls of the Kitale prison. I shared parts of my testimony that go way back to the Quiet Hour prison Minister, Keith Johnson, back in 1991.

Pastor Dan then baptized 100 inmates, including 20 women! Here is a 15 second video of the women being baptized.

Here is a longer video (4:40) of the men:

As as you can see from the videos, it was a high day for everyone involved!

Some of the inmates are deacons or elders, if allowed by the SDA Church. They do almost everything for the usual Sabbath service. The Chaplaincy just mentors, counsels and interfaces with the prison officials and guards in planning for the provision of buildings and time of worship.

BTW, The recidivism rate in Kenya is inverted compared to the US. Here, only 2% are ever re-incarcerated!

We are a group of mission-oriented people. Pastor Benjamin found us on YouTube from one of our sermons. He oversees a number of churches. They seek biblical truth and have thoroughly enjoyed Karen Zarska Styer's sermons about the experiential aspect of the heavenly sanctuary. Meg Smyth and Denetra Gary continued Karen's work for the next 10 days. Denetra focused more on the science of the brain and how it processes information while Meg focused on the experiential side of a walk with God. Curtis Delzell, an experienced missionary and evangelist, is currently with the lovely people of Kenya. They want continued Bible study as they seek a closer walk with Jesus.
