I’m going to share a rather lengthy story about an inmate, a battered copy of the Bible – The Quiet Hour hardcover edition, and a godly man named Keith Johnson.
I first met Keith Johnson in 1991 as he was leading a weekly Bible study group in a State Prison in Norco, California. I was an inmate firefighter working for what was then called the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF).
Pastor Dan surprised me with a speaking engagement Sabbath! He asked me to summarize for the Waitaluk SDA Church in a 30 minute message, the four bible lessons I did this past week – Bible, Prayer, Satan and Jesus. No problem!
I believe that this small group I am training right now, are going to take this message much further than any large evangelistic meeting – which I will do in time. But I wanted a small group of Christians with me that would have a fresh appreciation of being liberated from the tradition of men! I also need Swahili speakers to support me once I start the big meetings.
The transportation, or lack thereof, has become a huge problem. Pastor Benjamin’s car is way beyond its expiration date! It’s held together with bailing wire and prayer. Daily miracles manage to convey many people short distances in the area.
